TREE028 Papiro Rev
In early 2009, Papiro met with Markus Stähli (of Roy & the Devil's Motorcycle) to rehearse for an upcoming show as the support act of New York avant-gardist and Suicide instrumentalist Martin Rev. As an opening, he chose a piece reminiscent of an Indian raga. Despite its eastern mood, he wanted it to produce a disturbing and nervous atmosphere. The rehearsal was actually supposed to be as a three-piece, but no date could be found for the third man, Michi Zaugg. They decided to show him the tapes later. The continuous recording of the first take was now the basis for the LP Rev. Alex Buess (16-17) took care of mastering. We have no information as to whether or not Martin Rev liked the show.

TREE027 Flimmer Singing
Using just two basses and a drum kit, Flimmer produce music jam packed with breaks. Indeed, breaks are certainly a constituent element here. Flimmer draw on every variety of metal imaginable, without ever settling on one style. One break hunts the next. It's eruptive trash-metal complete with shouted-singing. There's only one single track on „singing“ that is longer than two minutes, at least half of the songs are under a minute in length. Their sound remains indebted to old school trash and speed-metal. Just that Flimmer weave all the genre-defining elements of this music that we hold dear seamlessly one after another so that they create something new altogether; a kind of nervous meta-metal. You might wonder, with all their calculative time signatures, changes of rhythm and breaks that the trio can still sound this stunning.
The CD comes in a screen printed cardboard sleeve together with a DVD filled with live footage and video clips that reach… very far back into Flimmer history.

TREE026 MIR Abandon Ship
Recorded live at Das Schiff, Basel in 2008, featuring music that hasn't and probably never will be released elsewhere, including a 10 minutes very spacey electronic mantra, and some live versions of the new album (TREE025). And once again, a selfmade screenprint cover. Other people are DIY too, but we make it look good. Limited release for sale on Japan Tour only.

TREE025 MIR s/t
They tried hard to record in a studio. But in time it became evident, that they could only reproduce a bad copy of what they delivered on stage. So MIR decided to rent a big sounding venue (Dachstock Reitschule Bern), the most experienced producer when it comes to massive soundwalls (Alex Buess /16-17, God, The Bug, Ice) and recorded this beauty in one day, right after returning from a tour. When they were HOT. They didn't rent an audience, so don't be surprised if the only things screaming are guitars, synths and the metal percussions feeding back through electronic arrays. Available as CD version, or limited edition double 12" Maxi with handmade screenprint covers. This is a co-release with Wallace Records and Savage Land.

TREE024 Antenna Tony Monorail Rock&Roll Jews Harp
Please welcome Antenna Tony Monorail with his debut EP 7" «Rock&Roll Jew's Harp». 4 Tracks recorded with as much as not a single overdub and all instruments played by one-man band Antenna Tony Monorail. Antenna Tony Monorail specializes in Rock&Roll Jew's Harp. To those of you who think that instrument is only suitable for Folk, New Age, or Avantgarde experiments: you might be in for a surprise. For Antenna Tony Monorail, this venerable instrument has only one purpose: to Rock, and then Rock Some More! As a genuine 1-man band, he also accompanies himself on a suitcase with kick-pedal, various percussions, plus the occasional harmonica.

TREE023 Combineharvester / I Was A King s/t
Beautifully designed and screen-printed by MARKUS STÄHLI of Roy and the Devil's Motorcycle. Each of these singles are unique. The cover screen printed and designed by Roy and the devil's motorcycle's Markus Stählin. Where there's usually a paper label, you'll find engraved information. That alone is enough reason to want to have this record. But there's also the music: Combineharvester - album releases last year, which although rated "very difficult" was received well. «Knifes To Nipples» is a pretty psyched psyched ditty - starting as a quiet trickle  which develops into a wild beast.
I Was A King is Frode Stromstad, indie-pop missioner home to the sleepy village of Egersund - Norway. His second album has jsut been released on Hype City. To «Step Aside» you might want to jump up and wave your hands in the air or just stand shoe-gazing in a corner. Both works.

TREE022 Bass And Drums Basse Et Batterie
Lonesome he felt. So he looked around. He looked around to see that there are other people around. People hitting drums and playing four strings. Just like he does. David plays drums im Flimmer. He has two friends that play Bass. They also play in Flimmer. There are many other bands that do the same. So he started gathering Bass & Drum bands around him. They brought along their songs. The result is a compilation of 24 tracks by 22 bands from all around the globe. All bands feature as instruments only drum and bass, with the odd exception of course. There might be a twang or a beep coming from some other instrument too. We don't want to be instrument nazis after all do we. 3 of the featured bands are already members of the A Tree In A Field family but there are many more to discover or re-discover as there are some names that you might have heard before, like Yoshida Tatsuya from Ruins or the Swiss Ratrak of old times for instance.
This CD has been released in cooperation with Säurefabrik and Tocado Records. The beautiful cover has been designed by Caroline Singeisen.

TREE021 Combineharvester Mow Grass, Slit Throats, The Like.
It's taken a while for this one to get finished. But Combineharvester aka Marlon McNeill hasn't been sleeping. Be it the occasional recording session with Trencher or the constant gigging with Speck, there's always something to do. Most other projects being very loud this refuge of multi instrumentalist Combineharvester is a quiet one. Mow Grass, Slit Throats, The Like is a trip into distorted singer/songwriter, psychedelic fields. Yet the noisy outburst or the odd drone escapade are never quite far. There are stories being told about cold feet. Cold feet stuck in concrete blocks. Bloody coughs and somehow a lot of knifes and other sharp objects have found it's way into this book. As a bonus on the cd you'll find the short film The Day After by Director Bettina Hägeli.

TREE020 Flimmer Phase IV
It may sound like a joke: two bassists and a drummer write songs. It may sound like a joke but Flimmer are more serious than ever. Reduced from a quintet to a trio they have dropped every unnecessary wheight and are yet heavier then ever. Cynical but fun lyrics about fucking not just the system but the whole solar system. Flimmer offers deep insights of the Swiss mentality, Switzerland being one of the top ranking countrys of suicides. There's a lot behind that shiny fassade of money and chocolate. When Flimmer say revolution it doesn't leave behind a mouldy taste of long dead part-time punk attitude they're more likely to leave you puzzled with a WHAT? expression and a stammering Da Da. Is it Punk or is it Hardcore? It's definitely sci-fi. No surprise the album being named after the sci-fi classic of the mid 70ies. Flimmer means to flicker, mind the epileptic fit.

TREE019 Flimmer Business Punks Fuck Off
As we all know Dead Kennedys have recently made more headlines through law suits, sueing eatchother and dubious re-union tours than by producing quality, politics-made-enjoyable, music! How much does it take for a Nazi Punk to become a Business Punk?
Flimmer pick up the Dead Kennedys song Nazi Punks Fuck Off, twist and turn it, play all riffs backwards and change the lyrics accordingly. Let's see how long it will take to see Dead Kennedys and Flimmer at court…
Side B gives us a taste of the upcoming Flimmer Album. Sing along with Flimmer: Reiz und Flimmer, Reiz und Flimmer, Reiz und Flimmer…

TREE018 Grindweh Compilation
PRRARGHFFT! PRRARGHFFT! PRRARGHFFT! PRRARGHFFT! PRRARGHFFT! PRRARGHFFT! Grindcore to the ultimate end, my friend! Once this 7" is mounted on the recordplayer it delivers you some very short and totally fucked up noise sequences (they are actually nano-songs by such bands as FLIMMER, KRUEGER 23 and SPECK) - for as long as you may need it. Each featured song in its locked groove theoretically garantees you hours or centuries of non-stop-entertainment, but for health and some other more or less obvious reasons it is suggested to turn it off during sleeping hours.

TREE017 PAPIRO AVVENTURE LONTANE
Mostly known for his intense drone performances and as bass/guitarplayer for the ultrasonic noise trio MIR, Papiro seems to slip into a different persona when left unattended with a bunch of old Synthesizers and the privilege of overdub. The nine tracks show Papiro's affinity for melodies and complex arrangements and might be interesting for followers of early seventies electronica like Walter Carlos (A Clockwork Orange), Cluster or Bruce Haack. The LP comes in a silkscreened glow-in-the-dark cover designed to give you subtle creeps at night or massive profits on ebay when you'll sell this as a collector's item in a couple of years. Limited to 500 copies.

TREE016 SPECK FURIA
Enjoy a fine vanilla truffle by the warm light of your lamp of pink flesh. Grind your teeth and watch that stupid dog going in circles. Oh, such a waste it was to bring this little boy into this world. Nothing but a prisoner of love. A prisoner of ultra love, to be precise.
Six new tracks by infamous grindheads of gruffness Speck, six helpings of the experimental grindeur that will make ears blead and bones snap whith joy. This release is so DIY you'll have to assemble it yourself. So grab scissors and glue and head for many hours of joy.
The concept of the horse species, so to speak.

MIR EX MODULES
These are the first recordings of three-piece combo Mir, recorded live in a basement in early 2005. Connaisseurs of honest music will enjoy the lack of production and the intensity of the four instrumental pieces. Drummer Daniel Buess (Ensemble Phoenix, Cortex) proves to be a very tight and inventive musician, just check the sounds of his selfmade percussion devices, if you can spot them. His hypnotic mantra-like rhythms are accompanied by heavy bass, screaming guitars and percussive cluster organs, courtesy of drone specialists Papiro and Michael Zaugg. This cosmic catastrophe comes in a practical handmade unicate cover. Or as free download.

SCHORF 9 SONGS AND FREE IMPROVISATION (14:33)
No stops, all flow. Or as a museum director already had to acknowledge: This is art - period. Schorf is a collective loosely knotted around the masterminds Tom and Niels (drummer of Speck) building the fundaments of this beast of grind around improvisation. Schorf performed live as a duo or as a whole bunch of maniacs molesting their vocal chords, saxophones, duck-imitation-whistles, samplers, synths and theremins. This 14 min. sculpture of listening pleasure is hosted by Tom - guitar/voc, Niels - drums/voc/keys, Marlon - sampler/keys/voc and original Speck co-founder Fipe on voc/woodflute. All instruments were recorded on 4-track in one go. Overdubs only for vocals and some piano/key chords.

ROOTSPROVISIONAH SUN OUT AND THE ROAD IS HOT AND DUSTY
Third release of drummer and sample-geek Rootsprovisionah. This one's a hot and dusty roadtrip. Bottles of cheap rum on the backseat, a mute ragged somebody - a nobody perhaps - on the steering wheel. He asks no questions but knows exactly where you want to go. Down the road, away from all the lost loves, stop at a run down Blues Bar. A tattered Jazz Cafe, score some coke on the way. A little smack perhaps. A soundtrack to the confuzed, the brokenhearted. The man is still alive but was it really necessary to fuck his best friend`s girlfriend? All in all this is an album about love…and coming home.

TREE012 FLIMMER/LITTLE GREEN SCIENTISTS s/t
Little Green Scientists are well known for their funny and quite often weird punk appearances, often involving silly outfits and lumps of slime flying through the air. One would find them mainly in stuffed little squat cellars or even on a sunny saturday afternoon in your favorite shopping mall...that was 1995
This is 2005 and out of the ashes of Little Green Scientists' crashed spaceship steps Flimmer. Grinding hardcore punk, weavering female vocals and hungarian metal guitar solos make this a trip into a schizophrenic, paranoid bad acid trip through thousands of blurring conspiratorial TV channels.

TREE011 TRENCHER/ORTHRELM TRANSATLANTIC ASTHMA ATTACK
New York meets London - Drum'n'Guitar perfection meets Casiogrind chaos. Six truly disturbing jewels on this neat little piece of vinyl are brought to you by John Peel favs Trencher and The Locust tour mates Orthrelm. While Orthrelm will let you stand there startled by their high level performance, Trencher will want to make you take away their fiddly casio toys and send them straight to bed without supper.
Claustrophobic nerve-wrecking strain. A kick in the head. A bloody cough. Bang!

TREE010 FREE010 CAPE POND ICE DLENDER MORX
Rootsprovisionah's audio drug trip from lounge jazz to destructive hate. Below the surface works a developing pattern of grooves meeting deconstruction: the breed of instruments played by Rootsprovisionah and fellow musicians. Some catchy samples connecting the ambivalent mission surprisingly stem from blues records.

TREE009 FREE009 NOVARTIS WANTS TO STEAL MY JAZZ-GENES FEAR OF THE FUTURE DARK SPEED
Jazzy and weird, this album is a collection of tunes produced and played by Rootsprovisionah between 1994 and 2001, constructed on a four track tape recorder. The source of most of the tunes traces back to live sessions with fellow musicians. Thematically questioning the patenting of natural and cultural resources, the album makes fun of corporate identity and is a hommage to the likes of Stockhausen, Captain Beefheart, Joe Henderson and Doom (GB).

TREE008 PAPIRO ST (aka Leaf CD)
A collection of instrumental tunes dealing with boy-genius-childhood and teenage angst, re-released by A Tree in a Field Records. Papiro recorded this stuff between 2000 and 2002 using a wide range of electronic and acoustic toys. Most tracks involve innocent melodies and crippled arrangements, noisy outbursts are used rather gently. Comes in exclusive handmade leaf collection cover. Buy it now and watch it rot.

TREE007 FLIMMER ARSCHLOS
This is the way to play it: This is Nomeansno without Jazz and Dead Kennedys without New Wave. This is not your average punk band, this is your favourite punk band. Harsh and tricky beats, some squeaky guitars and no decency whatsoever. Plus a good sense of humour and educational value – that is if you understand swiss-german or german... Flimmer from Basel, formerly known as Little Green Scientists, have been around that long it makes you want to rip your guts out. Their long overdue contribution to the world of shiny Compact Discs has finally found its way to you.

Ever tried to listen to Hellnation, O.L.D., Man Is The Bastard and the Locust at the same time? Here`s how: Just put on this Trencher recording and it`ll be flinging the sound of terror, shooting 14 raw and piercing chops of outstanding sharpness in the listener`s direction. Heavy riffing, desperate raging vocals and chaotic speed thrills team up with the unforgiving sound of a casio synthesizer toy, displaying all the tragic disgust in the confinement of a child`s room. TREE001 COMBINEHARVESTER RETROSPECTION
Dressed with beautiful electronical dew drops, this is a classy homegrown pop album rooted in the singer/songwriter tradition. Beyond the outright rockers, the quality of Retrospection lies in the fragile moments of elaborated minimalism, sketchy melodies and unique darkness. If beeing a Master of Ceremony has anything to do with drawing the listener`s attention to words and to a deep and dense atmosphere, then Combineharvester is a gifted MC. This CD features a video clip.
